What’s in it for your bike shop?

1. Nearly every bike buyer wants their bikes to come pre-registered by their bike shops.  In response to a survey, 87% of respondents wanted their bikes to come pre-registered with Bike Index, while 10% hadn’t heard of Bike Index.

2. Bike theft significantly hurts the bottom-line of the bike shops.  In the past decade, approximately $50 million in bikes have been stolen in Seattle. Eight percent of victims will never buy a bike again, and many will buy a bike of much lower value.  By registering more bikes, we can both return stolen bikes to their owners, catch more thieves, and deter theft.

3. Bike theft also affects bike shops directly.  Thefts routinely happen of bike shops themselves. Catching more thieves and deterring theft will help prevent product loss from your shop floors.

4. Fighting bike theft is the right thing to do.

5. We will write a blog post and send out a press release announcing all the bike shops participating in the “Bike Shop Month Challenge,” and showcase the bike shops on our social media channels.
